"After visiting several offices and being quoted much higher prices elsewhere, I am so grateful I found Brookwood Endodontics.Dr. Stephen Thomas and his entire team were absolutely wonderful — professional, kind, calming, and incredibly attentive from beginning to end.I came in very nervous and in significant pain needing a root canal on tooth #19. They explained everything, made me feel comfortable, and the procedure was honestly far easier than I expected. I even chose nitrous oxide because I was anxious, and the team made the entire experience feel calm and stress-free.What shocked me most is that after the numbness wore off, I had almost no pain at all. I slept perfectly that night and did not even need pain medication.The office itself is beautiful, modern, spotless, and very comforting. Everyone treated me with genuine care, and they even called the next morning to check on how I was feeling.I truly cannot thank Dr. Thomas and his team enough. "Had the "urgent" need for an assessment for possible root canal. Called Brookwood Endodontics. I called around 0800 and they had an opening at 1230 with Dr Thomas. Waited approximately 10 minutes before xrays were done and then to a comfortable chair and awesome view. Dr. Thomas confirmed the need for root canal and his assistant, Maddie, got things set up . They both provided the pre-procedure info i needed and they went to work. Unfortunately I've had several root canals over the years and things always went well. However, this experience was more than OK, it was great. Never experienced the discomfort I had in previous procedures, almost completely pain free and the time was minimal. Dr Thomas repeatedly checked in to make sure I was comfortable and Maddie was at the side to support him and me! Overall, great experience and no doubt where I will go if need arises again. On a scale of 1 to 10, this was at a least a 15. Also....reception staff personable, professional, and very pleasant as well as efficient managing insurance claims. Great team!"

Other than the initial shots to numb the area, I felt no pain during the entire surgery. It is the day after the surgery and still no soreness or pain. "I had to have a root canal according to my dentist. He scheduled an appointment with Dr. Thomas. The day I went in I was questioning whether I really needed a root canal because the horrible tooth pain I had originally was gone. Dr. Thomas suggested I wait a few days to make sure since he didn’t want to give me a root canal if I didn’t need one. The very next day I woke up with tooth pain again. I called his office and due to a cancellation, I was able to get in that day. I had a crown over that tooth that according to my dentist was a temporary. It was not. Dr. Thomas’ staff did everything they could to remove that crown without success. He finally had to drill through it. Once he did he told me there was a lot of infection under the crown. During the process, I was super stressed. I was not that easy to get numb and hated the sound of the drill. Dr. Thomas was able to get my mouth numb. I realized I didn’t have to be stressed and had to make myself relax several times. After it was all over I realized I had been super stressed over nothing. I would definitely recommend him to anyone."

"Everything was pleasant from start to finish. 1st, it is was the front desk personnel. They was very friendly, polite and warm. Next, it was the gospel music playing in the lobby, and they were some of my favorite songs at that, so I was jamming while filling out paperwork. Next, it was the friendly assistant that called me back and got me prepared for my visit. She was very sweet, supportive and gentle. (She even wiped my tears later as I silently cried from nervousness, as I waited for the anesthesia and gas to kick in 💜🥹) I hate I can't remember her name because she definitely deserves recognition. Once I got set up, it was the open window view over looking parts of the city and highway. Nice! Then it was sweet, sweet Dr Thomas. I absolutely loved him! I get terribly anxious at the dentist ( I know he's a specialist, but they both work in my mouth lol) and this was my first root canal. He made me feel so at ease! He was very informative and communicated everything with me. They both made sure I was comfortable at all times and that was a big plus in my books. "De.Thomas was so warm and comforting. I having experienced a doctor with bedside care like that in a long time. Nurse Grace was so sweet and she made sure I had everything I needed. She even offered her hand for me to squeeze if needed. Together, they embodied team work. I can’t forget to speak on the views from the chair. While getting my root canal, I was able to look out the floor to ceiling windows and see what look like our entire city. Lastly, they had My. Dew. Check, Check, check, Check! "I was referred to Brookwood Endodontics for a root canal by my primary dentist; this was the day before Christmas Eve. They were kind enough to work me in. Grace was my assigned tech and Dr Thomas was the endodontist who performed my root canal. Both were amazing. I was warmly welcomed, once I was in the chair I was offered a blanket (it was cold in there but I’m always cold); I was offered a beverage and was continuously checked on while waiting. Dr. Thomas made sure I experienced no discomfort during the procedure and provided clear instructions for after care. Thank you Dr Thomas and Grace."

"I saw Dr. Stephen Thomas for a root canal on July 9th and let me just say it was one of the best experiences possible, under the circumstances. I was in a ton of pain after a procedure and ended up needing a root canal, I didn’t have much time before I leave for a trip so my dentist office called and they had an appointment same morning to get me in. The numbing is the only thing that took longer but I definitely appreciated the extra time spent to verify numbness. The root canal itself only took 20 mins. "I came in for a root canal and an analysis of a failed root canal. The atmosphere is nice and friendly! They offer you drinks, blankets and disposable airbuds during your visit. I had Grace. "Yesterday, I had a root canal done by Dr. John Thomas. He was very professional. He explained everything that I needed to know not only regarding the root canal, but also with a bridge that is over 25 years old. May was his dental assistant, and she also handled all of her assignments with knowledge and care. One additional thing. I accidentally came two hours early for my appointment. The desk staff went out of their way to try to fit me in so that I wouldn’t have to wait for the two hours. That’s called customer service. This is the third time that I’ve had an occasion to be treated at Brookwood Endodontics. My experiences during the first two visits were the same as this visit. "The staff is very friendly and professional. The office is well organized and clean. As I entered the office, everyone said hello. Within three minutes I was taking to the back to do scans. They also asked me did I wanted something to drink ( coke products or water) and a blanket. I had a root canal done and Dr. Thomas did an amazing job. This was my first visited and first root canal. Of course, I was nervous but they assure me everything was going to be fine. Surprisingly, no pain and a smooth process. Plus, I received a call the next day from the office, checking on me. "It was Wednesday afternoon of Thanksgiving week. I was worked in on emergency status. I booked with Dr. Thomas and his fabulous assistant. This team has done several root canals for me in the past. I knew I was in very good hands. As usual, I was offered a warm blanket and made sure I was as comfortable as possible during the procedure. The main thing is, it was a holiday week. They didn’t have to work me in but they went the extra mile for me since I’m a teacher and it’s so hard to get off work. "From the moment I walked into their office I can tell they've given great thought to their patients. I say this because I am disabled and walk with a cane. The chairs were of different height. So, I was able to sit and get up with little difficulty. The receptionists were all very nice. Among the paperwork they give you a personal room card. This card asks if you want something to drink and offer different options, they asks if you need a headset for your phone, they give a selection of channels to watch on TV, they ask if you need a blanket, and another question. I don't remember them all. They actually cater to you. The assistants are very professional yet personable. They listen to you. My assistant, Vanessa, asks lots of questions to make sure she understood what what needed and made sure the doctor understood also. She was GREAT. My doctor, Dr. Stephen J. Thomas, was AWESOME!! Vanessa told him I am hard to numb and he made sure I was very numb. Usually, when I tell dentists I am hard to numb they have to give me extra numbing medications during the procedure. But, not so with Dr. Thomas. He listened to my complaint and explain to me what was happening and showed and explained the x-ray to me. He performed a root canal and the procedure itself did not take long at all. I couldn't believe it. WOW! Did I say he was AWESOME? At checkout the people were very funny. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone."

"It feels odd to award 5 stars to a root canal experience, but the high level of professionalism, intentional gentleness, and extensive comfort measures offered by Dr. Thomas at Brookwood Endodontics made my procedure much less daunting than I anticipated. (I had been deeply dreading this appointment for days!)Upon arrival at the office, I was warmly greeted in the classy and comfortable waiting area by the friendly faces and soft voices of the reception staff as calming inspirational music played in the background. The check-in process was quickly completed due to the online registration option that I was able to do from home. (The information presented during registration was very helpful and the additional communication via text helped me to be prepared for the payment process.)Before I was called back for my procedure, I was given the opportunity to choose comfort options that not only included the usual nitrous oxide, but a menu of drink options, TV channel choices, headphones, a pillow, and a comfy blanket. Once seated in the dental chair (which was facing a glass wall offering a beautiful panoramic view of Homewood and Red Mountain), I was carefully attended to (with my choices of bottled water and a fleece blanket) and respectfully prepped with an explanation of what was to come. Where was I?? So far, my visit seemed more like a spa than a dental office!The actual reason for my visit was soon addressed, but I was consistently asked how I was doing and I was never in pain. The use of cutting edge equipment and efficient and effective procedures put this dental practice in the lead for their field. Dr. Thomas and his assistant McKenna quickly took care of my tooth issue and sent me home with clearly explained verbal and written instructions, along with a voucher for a treat from Smoothie King as a "thank you." I later received a follow-up phone call/voicemail message from the office to check on my recovery.This experience was much easier than I anticipated due to well-run administrative procedures, clear communication, and Dr. Thomas's commitment to comfortable and competent care. "I have had several root canals done in my life, at other dentists. Although most of them were ok, I have to say that this time, at Brookwood Endodontics, my experience was beyond wonderful! As soon as I walked in, I knew it would be different, but I had no idea just how great it would be! Offering patients blankets, pillows, headphones, asking their preference for the tv station ... that might seem like little stuff, but for a patient who is deathly afraid of dentists and/or needles, it was the perfect thing to make me feel comfortable. The view from my chair was also fantastic, and helped me feel like I wasn't even at the dentist.As someone who is absolutely terrified of needles, I was sure this was going to be another unpleasant experience, but Dr Thomas made sure I didn't even FEEL the needle he used. The contraption they put over your mouth, to keep any debris falling into the back of your throat, made things even more comfortable for me, as I didn't feel like I had to hold a mouthful of saliva or ask for suction; I was able to relax throughout the entire procedure.I would highly recommend Brookwood Endodontics - in particular Dr Thomas - to anyone who needed a root canal done.
