Dr. Stephen Thomas, a native of Jackson, TN, began his education at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa for his undergraduate studies before pursuing his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. Following dental school, he completed a one-year general practice residency at the University of Alabama Hospital, gaining valuable clinical experience. He then went on to earn his postgraduate degree in endodontics from the University of Alabama, where he received advanced, specialized training in the field.
Dr. Thomas maintains active involvement in several professional and community organizations, reflecting his dedication to both dentistry and service.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Thomas enjoys quality time with his wife, Shannon, and their four children — McKenzie, Reese, Kate, and Stephen Jr. He is passionate about staying active through exercise and golf, and he and his family also love spending time together at the lake. Dr. Thomas and his family are members of the Church of the Highlands.
I was just recently referred to Brookwood Endodontics for dental work I needed. I have to say I have had dental problems since I was a child and I have always hated since then to go to the dentist. Brookwood Emdodontics staff were very kind and professional and made me feel at home. After my Initial visit I received a phone call from a member of there staff the next day just checking in to see how I was doing, you don’t see this much from businesses these days they just take your money and do whatever service to say they did something then your out the door and on to the next victim. Great job Brookwood I will recommend to others. Thank you George Thomas.
They are very nice and offer a pillow, blanket, soda or water, ask what channel you want to choose from on your TV, and give headphones to plug in to your phone. You can also request gas if you are anxious ( i have VERY high anxiety). Procedure went well and was really quick. Mostly just laying around waiting for topical numbing and gas mask to take affect before they give the shots… the shots were the only painful part, but very quick like for just a few seconds. I absolutely hate dentist offices, the smells, the sounds, the tastes, everything about them makes my knees weak. So, if I can make it thru a root canal, anybody can! The only really shocking, discouraging and frightening part was when they send you home with an antibiotic and pain pills… and the pain pills are naproxen … and that is the strongest medicine they are allowed to give you according to the doctor. I just got home, the numbing is wearing off, and I am a bit panicky hoping this naproxen helps (which is basically aleve) So if you aren’t afraid of pain, and you don’t expect them to give you anything for pain relief other than aleve, then this is your place. Dr Thomas did a wonderful job and the nurses are very nice. I definitely recommend!
The entire experience was wonderful from the warm smiles and greeting from the staff. Dr. Thomas was gentle, explained the entire time what to expect, listened, and does great work. One of the things I noticed most about him was how kind he was not only to his patient but to his staff.

I haven’t had a root canal in years and dreaded the fact that I needed one. Abbey and Dr. Thomas were wonderful. They made sure I was comfortable throughout the process. They both were kind and comforting. And you get a free smoothie from Smoothie King afterwards.Great experience. Highly recommend Brookwood Endodontics- Birmingham.
