A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.
If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend non-surgical treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. Root canal therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Success for this type of treatment occurs in about 90% of cases. If your tooth is not amenable to endodontic treatment or the chance of success is unfavorable, you will be informed at the time of consultation or when a complication becomes evident during or after treatment. Dr. Collier, Dr. Thomas and Dr. Powell use local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort. In addition, we will provide nitrous oxide analgesia, if indicated. You will be able to drive home after your treatment, and you probably will be comfortable returning to your normal routine.
To provide you with a better understanding of endodontic therapy, we have provided the following multimedia presentation. Many common questions pertaining to root canals are discussed.
When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of completion at our office. Your restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth. It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.
The cost associated with root canals can vary depending on factors such as the severity of damage to the affected tooth and which tooth is affected. In general, endodontic treatment is much less expensive than tooth removal and replacement with an artificial tooth.
I LOVED THEM!!!

I’ve been going to doctors, dentists, orthodontist, and endodontists the majority of my life and this office by far is the best place I’ve ever been. The atmosphere of the office and cleanliness is amazing. One of the receptionist came out and served coffee, soda, and water. They also offered cookies and crackers. Above all the entire staff was just amazing!

Will continue with Dr Powell , Melissa, and staff as long as they will let me ! Wish he would offer other dental 🦷 procedures and services , they are wonderful! Very professional yet friendly atmosphere! Dr Powell seems to genuinely care about his patients and the procedure he has committed to perform, both prior to, and after the procedure. He checks and often rechecks X-rays to ensure the patient is receiving the appropriate and the best possible procedures and treatment he can provide. He explains to the patient, their problem, their options, and the possible scenarios of outcomes in the best interest of health and well being. This is awesome and important to me, as often times a patient agrees to a treatment or procedure not realizing the long term effect down the road. Of course, it’s the patients decision....but Dr Powell provides his patients the information necessary , and in a manner they can understand, which enables them (us) , to make a well informed and appropriate decision for them. It’s a comfortable atmosphere and I continually put my faith and trust in Dr Powell and his stafff. He has done several major procedures for me and I have always been completely satisfied!! And they always call and check on me the next day!! And if I needed anything, they handled it immediately.!! Wow, how many Dr’s offices do that ??!!?? 🤔 ... Notta ! They’re great ️

Could not have been more pleased with my care. Dr. Powell and his assistants were excellent! They were very professional, yet warm and personable. Explanations were given for all procedures and recommendations. Dr. Powell is very skilled, but was kind at the same time. If these services are ever again in my future, this is the place I will call and the people I will ask for, without question. Everyone I encountered was exceptional from the person scheduling my appointment, the person checking me in, to the medical personnel working with Dr. Powell. I give them all an A+!

I was so impressed with the overall experience I had. As you know, going to a dentist can be uncomfortable and even cause some nerves. However, from the time I walked in the door at Brookwood Endodontics, even during the root canal procedure, and as I was leaving, I felt peace. The staff were incredibly kind, and made sure I was taken care of, and was reassured that all would be well. They also had amazing bedside manner. I 100% would recommend Brookwood Endodontics!

Everyone was very nice and friendly. Treated me like I was a part of their family. For some reason I can select the yes tabs. But they are all a yes yes yes. Awesome
